I just found out about the passing of Johnny. My brother Ricky Leach and Johnny grew up together. Even though I had not seen Johnny for many years, I still remember his wonderful smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

When we were about 12 years old, I read somewhere that there was a permanent full tuition scholarship for anyone who could get accepted to Harvard University bearing the name Baxendale. I ran next door to get Johnny so we could start his studies at once, determined that he should claim this prize. I must not have been a captivating teacher because three hours later, he quit my class forever. I remember from that day that he was surprisingly agile

Johnny was a kind and decent person and was a good friend to all who knew him. He had more than his share of obstacles placed in his path but he faced life's challenges with a smile and an open heart. I have so many great memories of our time together in high school and afterwards. Johnny won't miss his legs anymore - he has wings now... Rest in Peace old friend.
